Article Writing For Web Site Promotion

Writing articles is a great way to promote your website because you get backlinks from other websites that increase search engine rankings which drives more traffic to your site.  Writing articles for your site or using existing articles on your site involves some work but has the distinct advantage of being free.

To write an article, you don't necessarily need to be an expert on the topic you are writing about, but if you are - thats great.  You can "put together" an article based on research of the topic you are interested in by using private label information such as what is available in InfoGoRound, private label ebook excerpts and the like.  Your article topic should relate to your website theme - that is if your website is about weight loss you should have diet and weight loss articles on your web site.  Usually a 400 - 700 word article is adequate for your article length.

Once you've written your article, you can submit it to article directories for free. There are hundreds of article directories on the web so I won't list them all here since you can easily find them by searching on Google, but to get you started, here are a few good ones:

You must follow the formatting instructions for each article directory if they have them. Most article directories require articles to be submitted with no formatting. Create an unformatted article as a plain text document (.txt). Also, it may be a good idea to prepare a short description of your article and list your keywords as some directories also require this information to be submitted with your article.

At the end of your article, include a resource box that tells everyone a little bit about yourself (after all this is your chance for a little exposure).  You can provide a little detail about your website or sites and also provide a link to your site in the resource box.  If the person reviewing your article reads it to the end, he/she may click your link which will provide another targeted visitor to your site.

Once you start writing all these articles and getting them published you will find that the number of visitors to your site will increase and your search engine ranking will also improve.  Having your articles with your resource box and web site link included posted on other websites or article directories provides your site with backlinks which will help increase your search engine page ranking and increase your web site traffic.
